Status update

A few UHU project-related observations have already been made by the Ax-4 crew from the ISS.

So far, we could access only a fraction of the recorded observation material. Basically, this allowed only qucik quality checking of the videos. Lightning has been surely recorded from space by the AX-4 crew. Detailed search for TLEs is yet to be done.

A magnificent Gigantic Jet has been captured over Mexico from the ISS by astronaut Nichole Ayers.

This event was recorded within the time frame of the UHU project but outside of its framework. Nevertheless we have initiated to include this observation, too, in our project. So we could evaluate this event together with other UHU observations. The corresponding negotiations with NASA are underway.

We have received a good amount of ground-based optical observations already, so we have a good set of events by now. These also need cataloging yet.
Many thanks to every contributor so far!

Note that the ground-based TLE observation campagin continues up to the end of July so we gratefully accept and very welcome everyone’s TLE observations coninuously.

The Ax-4 mission has been extended by a few days (until at least 14 July) so we hope the Ax-4 crew will use their time to observe more for UHU. We continue submitting target opportunities like we have been doing it day-by-day so far.

Please note that announcements on TLE observation-related matters and target opportunities are made in the facebook group of observers.
